Now, we feel a little bit better, as we’ve been piecing the puzzle together thanks to a reveal or two. Crimson is a game, Bungie Aerospace is a new label from within the studio, and that app was made to support games down the line.

Now that you’re all caught up to, I’ll hit you with this: Crimson, a co-production between the aforementioned label and Harebrained Schemes, is a pirate game slated to hit the iPad at $0 on September 1st. It’ll hit the iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android phones at a later date.

RALEIGH – An exhibit opening at the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort will showcase the time that the notorious pirate Edward Teach – more popularly known as Blackbeard -spent in the state.

Blackbeard’s ship, the Queen Anne’s Revenge, ran aground near Beaufort on June 10 1718, leaving behind a wealth of artifacts. In commemoration of that event, the museum chose this year’s anniversary to open the exhibit.

After his ship ran aground, Blackbeard continued his buccaneering, spending about six months using the North Carolina coast as his base of operations. Evidence suggests that he may have done so with the blessing of Governor Charles Eden and Tobias Knight, secretary of the colony.

Spoils from Blackbeard’s seaway robbery, including highly prized sugar, were discovered in Knight’s barn, prompting the secretary’s trial for collusion, in which he was acquitted.

Jack costume reveals even more treasure" href="http://popwatch.ew.com/2011/05/14/capt-jack-sparrow-pirate/">Entertainment Weekly. If you didn’t know some of these details, here’s your chance to pick up a few pointers on your piratin’ attire.

“As the editor of Pirates Magazine and an expert on all things piratical, I have to let your readers know that Johnny Depp left out a few interesting facts about his new, improved Jack Sparrow costume.

The deer bone seen holding his ponytail on the right side of his head is a shinbone from a reindeer that has been carved into a marlinspike or “fid” and is used to mend sails and rigging.

The bird foot hanging from his Anna Maria belt together with the piece of fish vertebrae and mermaid is a talisman to ward off evil. Sailors were extremely superstitious and often picked up such “gris-gris” while in exotic ports.

The pelts hanging at his right side are not rabbit, but are the hind legs and feet from a red fox. Sailors often wore such pelts to draw vermin from their bodies. Once the pelts were full of ticks, fleas, mealworms and maggots, they were discarded.

It is also interesting to note that Johnny’s famous dreadlock wig is entirely new for POTC IV, has been partially bleached by the sun and saltwater and includes all sorts of new trinkets he picked up on his adventures. These include coins from many lands, a tiny ivory skull, a handcuff key and a tassel from a belly dancer. Much of what is found in Jack’s hair could be bartered or traded when in a tight spot. Jack’s hair is truly his treasure.

Captain Sparrow has also added a new Queen Anne pistol in his sash to go along with his famous, period-correct Perry of London flintlock.

As for Jack’s rings, real sailors and pirates would only wear such finery when in port since pulling lines on a sailing vessel would tear them right off, savvy?

What proper pirate would be caught dead without rum? And if there’s no rum, what’s the point in livin’? And if there’s no rum, one has to ask the most popular rum-related question in modern cinema… “Why is the rum gone?”

This design is from our good friends at Floozees Doozees (who we’re not shy of hitting up for free gear). You need to put down the rum and run to check out their wares. There’s not just great swag for pirates, there’s good stuff for wenches, too.

If you’ve never heard of them, you should know that they primarily create made-to-order t-shirts with some of the coolest designs we have ever seen. But that’s not all they sell. You can find custom, hand-made jewelry and candle rings, tote bags, and an eclectic collection of DVDs and music. You need to go have a look for yourself.

The designs we’ll be posting here on occasion are those that match our conception of what Catdaddy Pirates is and was as a band. If you think of the phrase “catdaddy pirates”, what does that mean to you? Well… to us it conjures up the obvious images of piratin’ and lootin’ and pillagin’ and, if you’re lucky, a little booty here and there. If you think of it like that, a lot of imagery immediately comes to mind. Like this obligatory pirate design, with grand old yarn, “Dead Men Tell No Tales”. Aye!

You can get that design on quality t-shirts in sizes from small to 3X for $16.99. 4X and 5X are $2 more. Sleep Tees are $19.99. But the great thing about Floozees Doozees is that you can get that design on just about any of their made-to-order products (t-shirts, tote bags and yard flags). Just pick your preference and place your order. Check ‘em out. You won’t regret it!

We’ve decided to convert this web site to an archive containing the recordings of Catdaddy Pirates. While the band itself didn’t last long, we believe its potential was evident in the handful of recordings that it made. Hopefully you’ll agree. In the coming weeks we’ll be posting the re-mastered versions of the songs that we’ve previously posted, as well as the completed songs that never saw the light of day.

Catdaddy Pirates could have been a great band. However, like so many other potentially great bands, it was undermined by personality conflicts and different agendas. It was not meant to be. But in that brief few months when Catdaddy Pirates existed, it showed some amazing potential. This web site is now dedicated to preserving that brief moment of promise.
